The State Department is investigating whether to designate the Turkish Muslim charity IHH, which funded and operated the Gaza-bound “aid” ship Mavi Marmara, as a foreign terrorist organization. State Department spokesman Mark Toner said at a briefing on Wednesday: “I believe we are looking at the IHH, but it’s a long process to designate something a foreign terrorist organization.” Sources also said that sections of the Treasury Department are actively investigating IHH with the intent to designate it as a terrorist organization, despite some opposition from within the administration.

The State and Treasury investigations follow a letter sent to President Obama last month from a bipartisan group of 87 U.S. senators in which they called on the president to keep firm his administration’s support of Israel and to investigate the Turkish group. IHH has links to terrorist groups including Hamas and al-Qaeda.

In footage captured on the Gaza flotilla just before its departure this week, one activist described how he had attempted in previous ship convoys to become a martyr and that “with the help of Allah” he would succeed on the flotilla.

“When I went on the first convoy, I wanted to be a Shahid (martyr),” stated the passenger in a pre-departure interview with Press TV.

He was referring to several previous attempts by smaller flotillas to break Israel’s naval blockade of Gaza.

Continued the passenger: “I wasn’t that lucky. Second time, I wanted to be a Shahid. Didn’t work. Third time lucky, with the help of Allah, I will be a Shahid.”

A spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces commented on the interview.

“While the Gaza flotilla passengers had presented themselves as peace activists who would not act violently towards Israeli forces, this provides further evidence to the contrary,” said the spokesman.

Activists on a six-ship flotilla that was headed to the Gaza Strip shouted anti-Jewish battle cries and spoke of using “resistance” against Israel, with one participant stating she saw only two possible outcomes for the boat occupants – “either martyrdom or reaching Gaza.”

The main flotilla ship was the MV Rachel Corrie, the namesake of a far-left activist from the International Solidarity Movement who died in 2003 while serving as a human shield to protect a terrorist.

An Al Jazeera news report one day before the raid translated by Palestinian Media Watch documented men on the flotilla chanting, “[Remember] Khaibar, Khaibar, oh Jews! The army of Muhammad will return!”

The chant is often used at rallies for Hamas in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Khaibar is the name of the last Jewish village defeated by Islam’s prophet Muhammad in AD 628. The battle marked the end of the Jewish presence in Arabia.

Al-Jazeera also interviewed a woman on the flotilla who said the participants’ goal was “one of two happy endings: either martyrdom or reaching Gaza.”

WND reported the commander of the six-ship pro-Palestinian flotilla announced beforehand participants were planning to use “resistance” and declared the ship’s activists wanted to die as “martyrs” more than they wanted to reach the Gaza Strip, according to Hamas television.

Israel maintains a naval blockade on the Hamas-controlled Gaza, fearing if it allows ships to reach the territory, Hamas can obtain weaponry to be used against Israelis.

Israel and the international community numerous times have stopped ships loaded with weapons destined for Gaza.

Despite claims by activists, Israel does not block humanitarian aid into Gaza. Israel allows a large number of trucks daily to enter Gaza with food, medicine and other humanitarian supplies. Israel transfers monthly into Gaza tens of millions of dollars worth of Israeli shekels to ensure the flow of cash in the territory. Israel imposed a blockade on certain supplies it fears could be used by Hamas to build a military infrastructure.

Since when do “peace activists” have access to sophisticated night vision equipment, rifle scopes and bullet proof vests? These photos taken by the IDF of items found on board the Mavi Marnara would indicate that the portrayal of non-violent humanitarians interested only in distributing aid to Gaza is thoroughly inaccurate.

The equipment, along with the clubs and knives found by the IDF on board the Mavi Marnara is evidence of the premeditated nature of the violence perpetrated by those on board.

In addition, large quantities of cash were found on board ready to be transferred to Hamas upon landing in Gaza. The Turkish IHH organization responsible for the Mavi Marnara is an open supporter of Hamas and has been implicated in the recruitment and funding of Islamic terrorism, including al-Qaeda. WARDAK PROVINCE, Afghanistan —  As elections draw near in Afghanistan, it appears the Taliban are launching a hearts-and-minds campaign of their own.

In recent weeks, Mullah Mohammad Omar, commander of Taliban forces, has released a code-of-ethics handbook that, among other directives, warns his followers not to conscript children or target innocent people. It also says bombs should be used to kill only government officials and coalition soldiers.

In the 62-bullet-point handbook, homicide bombers get specific instructions. They are to “be fully-educated in their mission”; they are to target “high ranking people”; and they are to “try your best to avoid killing local people.”

Taliban followers are further prohibited from smoking cigarettes, using captured vehicles for their personal use, cutting noses, lips or ears off detainees, and drafting “youngsters that have no beard.”

The handbook — written in Pashto and obtained through U.S. military sources — is entitled “Afghanistan Islamic Emirate Rules and Regulations,” and it is addressed to the “Mujahideen Pashto,” or Taliban commanders.

Dalal Mughrabi and Khaled Abu-Usbah are seen as Palestinian heroes for having carried out the bus hijacking in 1978 in which 37 Israeli civilians, 12 of them children, were murdered.

Former Prime Minister Abu Alaa (Ahmad Qurei), who read the statement, is the current Chairman of Fatah Department for Recruitment and Organization.

Four Palestinians from the Kalkilya area have been arrested for the murder of Dr. Daniel Yaakobi, 59, the Israel Security Agency announced Wednesday.

Yaakobi’s body was found burned in the trunk of a car near Kalkilya on July 27, 2006.

One of the suspects, Tayun Tayun, a Fatah operative, said Yaakobi had brought his car to his brother Ahmad’s garage. He said he attacked and beat him with a wrench and a stick until he died.

Sharon Tovi, Yaakobi’s son-in-law, noted that “Danny was a doctor who helped everyone, both Jewish and Arab neighbors.”

In an attempt to better understand the radicalization process, Laura Grossman and I released a study in April, “Homegrown Terrorists in the U.S. and UK: An Empirical Examination of the Radicalization Process,” that explores external manifestations of radicalization of 117 homegrown “jihadist” terrorists.

Specific manifestations include adopting a legalistic interpretation of Islam, coming to trust only select and ideologically rigid religious authorities, perceiving Islam and the West as irreconcilably opposed, manifesting a low tolerance for perceived theological deviance, and attempting to impose one’s religious beliefs on others.

The prevalence of these factors suggests the importance of religio-political ideology as individuals become radicalized (an ideology that cannot be described as Islam itself, but rather a rigid and non-mainstream understanding of that faith).

About 20% had a spiritual mentor, a more experienced Muslim who gave instruction and direction during the radicalization process.

One recruiter was killed and another wounded when Muslim convert, Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 23, of Memphis, TN, opened fire into the office.   Recruiting commander Lt. Col Thomas F. Artis says the victims had just completed basic training and were spending two weeks in Little Rock to recruit in their home area, showing the difference that less than two months of training made in their lives.

Following the publication of reports that introduced false information originating from various Palestinian sources, and in order to remove any doubt regarding the number of Palestinians killed in Operation Cast Lead, the IDF wishes to introduce the accurate figures to the public. The figures were gathered following the examination of various intelligence sources and after the names and numbers were thoroughly cross-referenced and examined.

According to the data gathered by the Research Department of the Israel Defense Intelligence, there were 1166 names of Palestinians killed during Operation Cast Lead. 709 of them are identified as Hamas terror operatives, amongst them several from various other terror organizations. Furthermore, it has come to our understanding that 295 uninvolved Palestinians were killed during the operation, 89 of them under the age of 16, and 49 of them were women.

The IDF wishes to emphasize that its objective during Operation Cast Lead was to target the Hamas terror organization and not the citizens of the Gaza Strip. It must be stressed that the fighting took place in a complex battlefield, defined by the Hamas terror organization itself. The Hamas terror organization placed the primary fighting scene at the heart of civilian neighborhoods, as it booby-trapped homes, fired from schools, and used civilians as human shields.

The IDF took extensive measures in order to prevent harming uninvolved civilians, including the dropping of leaflets, broadcasting warnings in local Palestinian media, and placing numerous phone calls to homes. The procedure of making use of warning shots and the briefing of the commanders to take extra precaution in populated areas were also among the measures taken by the IDF.

FIVE GITMO DETAINEES THREATEN AMERICA WHILE A FORMER CELLMATE TAKES LEAD OF THE TALIBAN

The new head of the Taliban who is leading the fight against Americans in southern Afghanistan is a former prisoner at Guantanamo Bay. Now his goal is to slaughter the 17,000 additional troops that President Obama has sent to Afghanistan, according to the Associated Press.

“Abdullah Ghulam Rasoul, formerly Guantanamo prisoner No. 008, was among 13 Afghan prisoners released to the Afghan government in December 2007. Rasoul is now known as Mullah Abdullah Zakir, a nom de guerre that Pentagon and intelligence officials say is used by a Taliban leader who is in charge of operations against U.S. and Afghan forces in southern Afghanistan.”

Rasoul’s  “stated mission is to counter the U.S. troop surge” in Afghanistan, according to the AP.

Rasoul’s return to terrorism is a prime example of why Obama should not close the prison at Guantanamo Bay. What is he thinking when he knows that these terrorists are returning to the battlefield to kill Americans?

At the same time that Rasoul’s Taliban promotion hit the news, five other Gitmo prisoners said they are proud of their part in the slaughter of innocents on 9/11. Obama stopped the trial for these terrorists, but a judge released their statements.

“Killing you and fighting you, destroying you and terrorizing you … are all considered to be great legitimate duties in our religion,” said the five terrorists, one of whom is Khalid Sheik Mohammed the alleged 9/11 mastermind, who call themselves the “The 9/11 Shura Council,” which is the Arabic word for  advisory group.

Obama is making a truly fatal error by closing Gitmo. Please help Move America Forward stop the closure.

“The evidence is mounting that Obama’s order to close Gitmo endangers Americans, but his first priority should be protecting the American people,” MAF Executive Director Catherine Moy said. “Our troops will now have to deal with Rasoul and other former Gitmo prisoners because they were allowed to leave the prison, which is safe and humane.”

Even the AP admits that the revelation of Rasoul’s leadership position and intent to attack American troops hurts Obama’s plans to close Gitmo and send the prisoners to the United States or other countries. America released Rasoul to the Afghan government, which released him.

At least two Saudi detainees once held in Gitmo were released to Saudi Arabia for rehabilitation. Now they are al-Qaida members, National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair said.

“Mr. Obama has no concrete plans on what to do with these very dangerous prisoners, and that should alarm Americans,” Moy said. “The leader of the Taliban was set free in Afghanistan. The same thing can happen over and over if Obama closes Guantanamo Bay.”
