Back to the 1930′s; a Must-See Wake-Up Call

Via :

Her name is Chloe Valdary and in this video, she drives a point home that desperately needs to resonate with more people. The incremental increase of anti-Semitism in the years leading up to the extermination of six million Jews during World War Two is back.

Valdary has partnered with Americans for Peace and Tolerance (APT) to raise more awareness of just how dangerous the times are in which we live. As we have often stated, Hitler / Nazi comparisons are often overdone but when you’re comparing Islamic fundamentalism to Nazism, it’s spot-on.

Here is more information via APT’s YouTube page:

As part of the increasing focus of Americans for Peace and Tolerance on countering the hostile campus environment for Israel and its supporters, we have partnered with an outstanding student leader, Chloe Valdary, to produce a short video that features her powerful call to action against anti-Jewish bigotry.

Chloe is a Christian Zionist whose solidarity with Israel is borne out of the shared histories of struggle against oppression by both Jews and African Americans. While a student at the University of New Orleans, she founded the student group Allies of Israel. After graduating, she co-founded the new campus-focused Israel advocacy group, Here Is Israel. Here is Israel is behind the viral music video “Boycott Israel,” which exposes the hypocrisy behind the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel. When she heard of a BDS conference being held at Brooklyn College, she felt compelled to speak out about the parallels she sees between BDS and the Nazi boycotts against Jews in the 1930s. We were inspired by Chloe’s clear moral message to produce this video with the goal that it reaches a broader audience.

If you’ve ever wondered what it must have been like in the 1930′s, it was probably quite a bit like today. Apathy and denial are the only emotions that would prevent someone from seeing this.

Hamas Damages Gaza Heritage Site to Build a Terrorist Training Camp

Via Al Monitor:

Last month Hamas’ Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades bulldozed a part of the ancient Anthedon Harbor in northern Gaza in order to expand its military training zone. The Anthedon seaport, which dates back over 3,000 years to the Mycenaean era, was designated an international heritage site by UNESCO in 2012.

Hizbullah Unmasked

From NY Times via Daily Alert:

  • On Feb. 5, after more than six months of investigations, the Bulgarian government announced that it believed Hizbullah was responsible for the attack last July that killed five Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian bus driver and injured dozens more in the resort town of Burgas.
  • This report is significant because a European Union member state, Bulgaria, explicitly pointed a finger at Hizbullah and lifted the veil on the group’s continued terrorist activities. Europe can no longer ignore the threat that this group poses to the Continent and to the world.
  • Hizbullah first gained notoriety in 1983 after bombing the U.S. Embassy in Beirut – an attack that killed 63 people. Shortly thereafter, Hizbullah bombed the American and French Marine Barracks in Beirut, killing 241 Americans and 58 French service members.
  • European governments must respond swiftly. They must disrupt its operational networks, stop flows of financial assistance to the group, crack down on Hizbullah-linked criminal enterprises and condemn the organization’s leaders for their continued pursuit of terrorism.
  • The U.S. applauds those countries that have long recognized Hizbullah’s nefarious nature. Europe must now act collectively and respond resolutely to this attack by adding Hizbullah to the EU’s terrorist list.

Saudi judoka who got Olympic rules changed to wear hijab is blue belt and would never have qualified for Olympics

Via JihadWatch:

Now the whole story of the Saudi girl who got Olympic rules changed so she could compete in judo wearing a hijab becomes clear. She has only been practicing judo for two years, and is only a blue belt. She was only in the Olympics by special invitation. This is like grabbing some guy from the local karate school, some guy who has been stopping in on Fridays for awhile to get back into shape, and throwing him into the Olympics. The purpose of Wojdan Shaherkani’s Olympic appearance was twofold: to comply with IOC pressure for female athletes from Sharia states like Saudi Arabia, and to turn that situation into a victory by pressuring the IOC for a concession on hijabs, thereby reinforcing the principle that wherever Islamic law and Infidel laws and practices conflict, it is Infidel laws and practices that must give way.

It was to reinforce Islamic supremacism that the world was treated to the spectacle of an inexperienced blue belt competing in Olympic judo.

“Saudi woman’s historic bow over in 82 seconds,” from AFP, August 3 (thanks to Kapil):

LONDON: Judoka Wojdan Shaherkani, the first Saudi Arabian woman to compete at the Olympics, sobbed as she admitted to being overwhelmed by her historic debut which lasted just 82 seconds on Friday.Looking nervous and wearing a black, swimming cap-style head covering, she was beaten by Melissa Mojica of Puerto Rico in the first round of the women’s under-78kg category.

After the fight, where she barely mustered a challenge, the 16-year-old broke down in tears as she embraced her father, himself a judo referee.

“I’m proud, I’m happy and I want to continue in judo. I want to thank the fans for their support,” she said.

“I was disturbed and afraid at the beginning, it was my first time in a big competition and there was a lot of pressure because of the hijab issue.

“I was not comfortable because I didn’t have any experience of big events. It took its toll on me.”

Shaherkani’s case sparked a huge controversy after International Judo Federation president Marius Vizer had said she would not be able to fight in a hijab, the traditional Muslim headscarf.

Judo rules ban any head-covering on safety grounds.

But Saudi officials had said their women – they have also sent 800m runner Sarah Attar – could only compete if they respected Islamic dress….

She was accompanied to the mat by her brother, who remained by her side throughout her media commitments.

The teenager has only been practising judo for two years and has a blue belt. If not for her special invitation, she would never have qualified for the Olympics.

Bulgarian press names bomber: Mehdi Ghezali, a Muslim

The US had him at Gitmo, but the Swedes set him free.  Via TimesOfIsrael:

Bulgarian media on Thursday named the suicide bomber who blew up a bus full of Israeli tourists, killing five Israelis and a local bus driver, in the Black Sea resort of Burgas on Wednesday as 36-year-old Mehdi Ghezali.

Ghezali has a Wikipedia page, which describes him as a Swedish citizen, with Algerian and Finnish origins. He had been held at the US’s Guantanamo Bay detainment camp on Cuba from 2002 to 2004, having previously studied at a Muslim religious school and mosque in Britain, and traveled to Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, it says. He was taken into custody on suspicion of being an al-Qaeda agent, having been arrested along with a number of other al-Qaeda operatives.

Following a lobbying effort by Swedish prime minister Göran Persson, Guantanamo authorities recommended Ghezali be transferred to another country for continued detainment, and he was handed over to Swedish authorities in 2004. The Swedish government did not press charges.

A 2005 Swedish documentary about the Guantanamo Bay detention camp starred Ghezali, who detailed his experience in American custody.

He was also reportedly among 12 foreigners captured trying to cross into Afghanistan in 2009.

Hitler admired in PLO youth magazine because he murdered Jews

Via PALWatch:

Hitler tells a Palestinian girl in her dream:
“I killed them [the Jews] so you would all know that they are a nation
which spreads destruction all over the world.”
by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik

The following is an excerpt from Deception: Betraying the Peace Process, chapter 14, section 1:

The Palestinian Authority funds a monthly educational magazine for children called Zayzafuna. The magazine is made up of material written by the magazine’s staff and also includes essays and poems written by children. Accordingly, Zayzafuna both represents the values of the educators and serves as a window into the minds of the participating Palestinian children. The magazine is published with the sponsorship of the PLO’s Palestinian National Committee for Education, Culture and Sciences.

Most of the content in Zayzafuna is positive and educational. It promotes family values, encourages children to read and to participate in building a modern, democratic society. However, these positive messages are directed at Palestinian society, Muslims, Christians and Druze. When it comes to portraying Israel and Jews, Zayzafuna changes its tone and includes items glorifying Jihad against Israel and praising Martyrdom death for Allah, and the Martyrs themselves.

The most extreme expression of demonization of Jews is the inclusion of an essay submitted by a teenage girl in which Hitler is presented as a positive figure to be admired because he killed Jews in order to benefit the world.

The girl in her dream asks Hitler: “You’re the one who killed the Jews?” Hitler responds: “Yes. I killed them so you would all know that they are a nation which spreads destruction all over the world.” Like the other hate messages, this appears in a story with positive messages by other admired figures, including a Muslim Nobel Prize recipient and a math scholar. See the full text below.

In addition, the magazine portrays a world where “Palestine” has replaced Israel by referring to Israeli cities such as Haifa and Jaffa as places in “Palestine” or as “occupied” cites. It denies Israel’s right to exist by saying that Israel is on “stolen” or “occupied” land, and demonizes Israel and Jews. Approximately one fourth of the children’s submissions are on nationalistic topics, and among them are expressions of hatred and delegitimization against Jews and Israel that mirror the messages transmitted by the PA leadership through official media, PA education and other structures under their control.

It is specifically because this is not a hate magazine, but in general a positive publication promoting good values, that the hatred expressed towards Israel and Jews is so damaging. All the positive messages about coexistence and peace, which abound throughout the magazine, apply to everyone but Israelis and Jews. The message of Zayzafuna concerning Israelis and Jews is that they are in a unique category separated from other peoples and religious groups: For others – peace, cooperation and coexistence; for Israelis and Jews – hatred, confrontation and Jihad.

Hitler admired because he murdered Jews

The Zayzafuna magazine chose to publish an essay written by a girl in 10th grade in which Hitler is admired because he killed the Jews – an act that is presented as a positive accomplishment for the benefit of humanity. The girl describes a dream in which she meets four historical figures, all of whom are presented as admired role models, and each one’s special accomplishment is the topic of a short conversation with the girl. Three of them are the ninth-century Muslim mathematician Al-Khwarizmi; Nobel Prize-winning Egyptian author Naguib Mahfouz; and Saladin, the Muslim leader who defeated the Christian Crusaders and conquered Jerusalem in the 12th century. The fourth and only non-Muslim role model in the dream is Adolf Hitler.

All four are presented as positive figures and each one offers advice to the young girl, which she accepts. Hitler is admired because he killed the Jews “so you would all know that they are a nation which spreads destruction all over the world.” Hitler advises the girl to “be resilient and patient” in facing the suffering the Jews are causing. The girl thanks Hitler for his advice.

Significantly, Zayzafuna‘s editors chose to include this submission in the magazine, without dissociating themselves from the admiration of Hitler. They found it an acceptable message to have Hitler appear with other role models for Palestinian children.

The following is the essay in Zayzafuna presenting Hitler with other positive role models.

“One hot day, I was very tired after a hard day… and suddenly I saw four white doors in front of me. I opened them in no particular order.
I opened the f irst door and saw a beautiful place full of f lowers. I was surprised to see a man there. I asked him, ‘Who are you?’
He said, ‘I am Al-Khwarizmi.’ [Ninth century Persian mathematician who lived in Baghdad, known for his contribution to the development of algebra.]
I said: ‘You’re the one who invented mathematics and arithmetic?’ He said: ‘Yes. What’s your situation like today?’
I said: ‘The Arabs and Muslims are in a deep sleep; they can’t do anything. They have moved away from all the sciences.’
He [Al-Khwarizmi] said: ‘Yes, I know that. The day will come when the Arabs will return to their glory. And you – you have a great duty, which is to take an interest in the Islamic sciences and to protect them from being forgotten.’
I said, ‘I promise,’ and left the door.
I turned to the next door; there Hitler awaited me. I said, ‘You’re the one who killed the Jews?’
He [Hitler] said: ‘Yes. I killed them so you would all know that they are a nation which spreads destruction all over the world. And what I ask of you is to be resilient and patient, concerning the suffering that Palestine is experiencing at their hands.’
I said [to Hitler]: ‘Thanks for the advice.’
Then I turned to the third door, and met Naguib Mahfouz [Nobel Prize- winning Egyptian author], who was the one who knew best the value of time and how to use it.
He said: ‘People’s pastime, these days, has become killing time and wasting it, as though they are punishing themselves. So strive to use your time in the best way.’
At the fourth door I meet Saladin Al-Ayoubi [Muslim leader who defeated the Christian crusaders and conquered Jerusalem in the twelfth century]. He said: ‘I am Saladin.’
I said: ‘You were the one who liberated Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa [Mosque].’ He answered: ‘Yes.’
I said: ‘Return, oh Saladin, for Jerusalem and Palestine cry out and no one answers.’
He [Saladin] said: ‘I know, but every time has its men, and the right man to liberate Jerusalem is still to come.’
And before I could finish my dream, the alarm clock rang and I woke up. It was seven in the morning, and I needed to go to school early, because I had promised Naguib Mahfouz that I would use time well.”
[Zayzafuna, February 2011]

Although repugnant, a Palestinian teenager’s admiration for Hitler because he killed Jews, alongside other Muslim role models, is not unexpected. As PMW documents, Palestinian children are brought up with the teaching that killing Israelis and Jews is heroic. The PA has named streets, schools, sporting events and more after Palestinian terrorists who have killed hundreds of Israeli civilians. In Palestinian cultural, educational and social events, every Palestinian child is exposed to repeated glorification of terrorists who have killed Jews. Palestinian children have participated in summer camps named after Dalal Mughrabi who led a bus hijacking in which 37 civilians were killed, and played in football tournaments named after Abd Al-Basset Odeh, a suicide bomber who killed 31 Israelis at a Passover dinner. It is not surprising that a Palestinian child who has been educated to see those who have murdered Jews as heroes and role models will conclude that Hitler, the one who murdered the most Jews in history, is likewise worthy of admiration.

About the publishers and advisory staff of Zayzafuna:
The magazine is published by the Zayzafuna Association for Development of Children’s Culture, and sponsored by the PLO’s Palestinian National Committee for Education, Culture and Sciences.

The magazine’s advisory board is comprised of Palestinian Authority officials and educators, including PA Deputy Minister of Education Jihad Zakarneh, and former PA Minister for Women’s Affairs Zuheira Kamal. [Zayzafuna, February 2011]

The Zayzafuna magazine is part of a larger education program funded by the Palestinian Authority which contributed 90,000 Shekel ($24,370) in 2010 and 10,000 Shekel ($2,700) a month in 2011.

Since August 2011, the magazine is also sponsored by UNESCO and the MDG Achievement Fund (MDG-F), a UN humanitarian foundation funded by the Spanish government. [Zayzafuna, August 2011.] In the October 2011 issue a note appears: “Opinions expressed in this magazine don’t necessarily express UNESCO’s views.”

Deputy Chairman of the Zayzafuna organization Abd Al-Karim Ziyada has explained the following about the funding of Zayzafuna:

“The magazine has advertisements, which cover some of the costs. For the year 2010-2011 we have subscriptions by students and schools, and that also helps [funding the magazine]. We are fortunate in that the Palestinian Authority and the Prime Minister [Salam Fayyad] have helped us this year with aid in the amount of 90,000 Shekel ($24,370) to cover the magazine and organization costs, and that has given us a push forward. Allah be praised, there is a new agreement for a monthly [PA] payment of 10,000 Shekel ($2,700) to cover the magazine [costs].”
[PA TV (Fatah), May 9 and 13, 2011]

This excerpt above is from a chapter in the book Deception: Betraying the Peace Process, recently published by PMW. The book includes a longer analysis of the other material as well found in issues of Zayzafuna from May 2010 through August 2011, focusing on messages relating to Israelis and Jews. A short summary of the positive messages in Zayzafuna and that are unconnected to Israel, is also included.

Today in Jewish History – The Eve of Rosh Hashana

Via Aish.com.  Elul 29

In 2000, Palestinian Arabs launched a campaign of terror which came to be known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada. Two days earlier, an Israeli soldier was killed by his Palestinian counterpart while on joint patrol, and the next day, Ariel Sharon visited the Temple Mount.

The next day, on the eve of Rosh Hashana, Palestinian violence erupted across Israel. (Later investigations indicate that the Palestinian Authority had pre-planned the intifada.) Tuvia Grossman, a 20-year-old Jewish student from Chicago, was thrust into the international limelight on when The New York Times published a photo of him — bloodied and battered — crouching beneath a club-wielding Israeli policeman. The caption misidentified him as a Palestinian victim of the intifada. The truth was the total opposite, and the realization that Israel was being unfairly portrayed in the media led to the founding of media monitoring groups such as HonestReporting.com. Over the next four years, Palestinian violence — bolstered by incitement in the Palestinian media — would claim the lives of over 1,000 Israelis and 4,000 Palestinians. The attacks included a wave of over 100 suicide bombings that targeted Israeli restaurants, synagogues and buses.

Here is what the NY Times originally ran.  Remember that Tuvia Grossman, the bloodied man in the photo below, is the Jew, and the media wanted to depict him as a “poorpalestinianpeeeeeepulllllll”.

Tuvia Grossman

Here is the follow-up retraction from the NYT …

(reprinted with permission from Arutz-7)

IF HE’S BEATEN, HE MUST BE PALESTINIAN

This past Saturday, The New York Times and many other papers published a
picture – supplied by the Associated Press – of an angry Israeli policeman
and a badly-beaten and bloodied man, with the caption, “An Israeli
policeman and a Palestinian on the Temple Mount.” The picture can be seen
at . Dr. Aaron Grossman, of Chicago, Ill., sent the following letter to the Times:

“Regarding your picture on page A5 (Sept. 30) of the Israeli soldier and
the Palestinian on the Temple Mount – that Palestinian is actually my son,
Tuvia Grossman, a Jewish student from Chicago. He, and two of his friends,
were pulled from their taxicab while traveling in Jerusalem, by a mob of
Palestinian Arabs and were severely beaten and stabbed. That picture could
not have been taken on the Temple Mount because there are no gas stations
on the Temple Mount and certainly none with Hebrew lettering, like the one
clearly seen behind the Israeli soldier attempting to protect my son from
the mob.”

Tuvia Grossman was on his way to the Western Wall on Friday afternoon, and
has been hospitalized ever since with head injuries and a stab wound. He
told Arutz-7 today,

“I was in a taxi on the way to the Kotel [Western Wall] and we got
stoned… [They took me out of the car and beat me and] I gave a scream,
and for a second they let go of me, and I said Shma Yisrael, because I
thought it was all over… After they let go of me, I ran – even though I
had a knife in my leg, G-d gave me the strength to run and I was able to
make it up the hill where there were soldiers by the gas station and they
took care of me. But I was being beaten for around 5 or 6 minutes with a
rock on the top of my head, and I was stabbed in the back of my leg and
kicked and punched all over my body.”

“[When I saw the mis-captioned AP picture] I was extremely, extremely
upset. People see a picture of a youth and they think that it’s a
Palestinian being beaten by Israelis, it changes their world view and makes
them think that it’s the Israelis beating up the Arabs. I was extremely
upset. It was totally the opposite. That policeman was yelling at the
Arabs to back off, and was protecting me from them – so to change it around
and to say that he was beating me, that’s just total distortion, and the
world must be notified about how this is not true – the Jews are the ones
suffering at the hands of the Arabs.”

The Times published a correction today, in which it identified Tuvia
Grossman as “an American student in Israel” – not as a Jew who was beaten
by Arabs. The “correction” also noted that “Mr. Grossman was wounded” in
“Jerusalem’s Old City” – although in fact it occurred in an Arab-populated
neighborhood of Jerusalem, not in the Old City. An Associated Press
spokesman told Arutz-7 that it was looking into the matter.

Muslims hold Jew-hating rally in Toronto: Jews are “racist, inhuman and barbaric”

Via TheBlaze:

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), a collaborative group comprised of Jewish organizations in Canada, has released a startling three-minute video clip of what appears to be an anti-Israel protest.

The rally, which took place on August 28 at Queens Park in Toronto, has ignited fear and debate surrounding radical Islam and its infusion into Western society. IsraelNationalNews.com describes the event, which was called Al-Quds Day:

Al-Quds Day has been marked since 1979, as decided by Ayatollah Khomeini and the Iranian government, on the last Friday of the Ramadan month in order to express the support of Iran and the Muslim world of Palestinians Authority Arabs and “the liberation of Jerusalem,” to discredit Israel and call for its destruction, and to defy the United States and other western powers.

NY subway ads calling for ending US aid to Israel

It’s just beyond belief.  Via Pamela Geller and Caroline Glick:

NY subway ads calling for ending US aid to Israel?

Anti-Israel NY subway ad

According to JTA (hat tip Arve in Norway) this ad is set to be posted in 18 NY subway stations in Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx and Brooklyn starting later this month. Seems to me that New Yorkers who support Israel should be able to speak to the City of New York, the Metropolitan Transit Authority and the New York Transit Authority who all have a hand in running the New York subway and have the campaign cancelled. My friend, the indefatigable Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs was able to get similar anti-Israel campaigns blocked in places like Seattle and has shown that cancelling anti-Israel propaganda campaigns is eminently doable.
Happy hunting!
UPDATE: Here’s an email I received from Morris Massel with information on how to cancel the ad campaign:

An anti-Israel group, www.twopeoplesonefuture.org, has just placed the attached ad calling for the end of aid to Israel in 18 subways stations in NYC.  They claim to target Israel only because “Israel is the strong party, Israel is the Occupying Power and Israel is the only party that can actually end the Occupation and pave the way for a just peace.”  IT IS NOT ABOUT PEACE.  IT IS ANOTHER THINLY VEILED ATTACK ON ISRAEL.  For example, certain of the sponsors of this ad campaign actively support Israel boycotts and general Arab solidarity.  This is not about promoting peace; it is about attacking Israel.

How can you help?

1. The ad placement is handled by CBS Outdoor.  Please send an email to emmanuela.chanoine@cbsoutdoor.com to register your concern about this ad campaign.

2. Email the Mayor.

3.  Call the MTA at 212-878-7000 and, in response to the prompts, press 1, 3, * and then either 2 for the press office and/or 4 for corporate affairs.  Leave a message.  You can also email them at http://mta-nyc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/mta_nyc.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php

4. GET THE WORD OUT.  Forward this email to your friends and family.  If we do not act to protect Israel, no one will.

For your ease, a draft email is below:I have just learned of the anti-Israel ad campaign that has been launched in 18 NYC subway stations by twopeoplesonefuture.org. I am contacting you to express my strong disapproval with this ad campaign.  The campaign is supported by the anti-Israel lobby, whose agenda is not peace but the destruction of the State of Israel.  Second, it unfairly penalizes Israel for defending itself.  New York City should not allow these types of ads to be run in our Transit System

Israeli Officials: Palestinians in Gaza Got Anti-Aircraft Missiles from Libya

Quelle surprise. Who woulda thunk that muslims would stick together united in their political identity to destroy Jews? Via Reuters:

Palestinians in Gaza have acquired anti-aircraft and anti-tank rockets from Libya during its six-month civil war, enlarging but not significantly improving their arsenal, Israeli officials said on Monday. Israeli officials have detected an inflow of SA-7 anti-aircraft missiles and rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), said one official.
