Escalating a dramatic Indian Ocean standoff, more U.S. warships – as well as pirate reinforcements with an international gallery of hostages – rushed Friday toward the spot where four Somali bandits are holding a U.S. sea captain aboard a drifting lifeboat.
The pirates apparently fear being shot or arrested if they hand over Capt. Richard Phillips – captured in a failed effort to seize the Maersk Alabama on Wednesday – and hope to link up with their colleagues who are using Russian, German, Filipino and other hostages captured in recent days as human shields.
U.S. Central Command chief Gen. David Petraeus said U.S. warships also are headed to the area, more than 300 miles (480 kilometers) off Somalia’s Indian Ocean coast.

YAY he’s freed, and 3 of the 4 pirates are dead, I hope this proves to the pirates you dont mess with the USA or prep to die.
The pirates said that they will treat countries that attack them more harshly, my response to this would be reaper UCAVs to their bases.
These guys needed to realize that they were going to be arrested or killed the second they were surrounded, had they killed the hostage then they would have all been killed. These pirates seemed to be motivated my money than ideology but some ideology has crept in.
I’m glad we didnt shoot thru the hostage but I wish we had acted a little bit more expediantly. Back in 1804 when the last american taken by pirates was we went in close and opened fire pt blank and destroyed their bases and harbor and alot of the support system for the pirates.

Thank G-d. I, like all other real Americans, have been following this story passionately, and I’m delighted that the Captain has been resued and that the barbarians were killed. It was an exact and righteous ending to an outrageous violation of international law by Muslim barbarians.
