As the Chief Strategist for the Our Country Deserves Better Committee, one of the responsibilities I have is to place our television advertising buys on national TV networks and local television stations alike.
About 8 weeks ago we saw – and reported to our supporters via email – that Barack Obama was going on a massive spending spree, far out-spending McCain on paid TV ads.
We then found out to what extent this took place last week when documents filed with the FEC showed that Obama had outspent McCain by a 4-to-1 and even 5-to-1 ratio in many key battleground states. This contributed to the surge in the polls Obama enjoyed.
Yesterday, however, we got some good news: Obama has seen his pace of fundraising plunge and in these final 10 days of the campaign, Obama and McCain will be practically equal in their spending. Here’s the report from the Associated Press:
WASHINGTON (AP) – Barack Obama and John McCain enter the final days of the presidential campaign amid dwindling reserves, with Obama hindered by a sudden drop in fundraising and McCain restrained by spending limits.
And this is where you can have an impact on this race and help us to defeat Barack Obama.
Obama has now dramatically scaled back his campaign’s advertising in Wisconsin and Michigan after McCain was forced to pull his own resources from these states — given his limited financial resources, and his campaign’s decision to spend money elsewhere.
On Monday I will be placing our next round of paid television advertising, and we have the chance to purchase a huge block of advertising and take advantage of the “empty” airwaves. We can practically own the airwaves in these states while Obama’s attention is focused and elsewhere and put these states back “in play” by doing to Obama what he did to McCain… vastly outspending him and thus moving the polls dramatically against Obama.
Don’t you think it’s time Obama got a taste of his own medicine!?!
